Forgiveness

John 8:34-36 says "Truly, truly I say unto you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. And the slave does not remain in the house forever; the Son does remain forever. If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed."

I was discussing the verses above with a friend of mine the other day. This guy is pretty well an Athiest, but reads the Bible because it's "a very interesting book". Anyway, he asked me how in the first part, it says that one who sins is a slave of sin, yet in the very next part, it says that the Son shall make you free.

A little bit of investigation reveals exactly what this means. First of all, if you look, the first part of the verse is used in present tense. Now I don't claim to be a Biblical scholar by any means..I am just a simple man doing the best I can. However, I have noticed that many times, the Bible uses that kind of phraseology, or present tense terms when it comes to sins consequences. Basically what it is saying is that if you commit sin (repeatedly) yes, you are indeed a slave to that sin. It is only through the Son, or Jesus of course, that the sin can be driven out of the house and we, made free.

Just an interesting thing that happened recently that I thought I would pass along.

Anyway...I recently updated my resume and began the process of looking for jobs elsewhere within FedEx. There are a few positions that I am interested in applying for. So far, I have applied in the following places, via the FedEx Database: Nashville, TN; Tuscallosa, AL; Ft. Worth, TX; and Columbia, SC; I would definitely prefer to stay somewhere in Texas or the southeastern part of the United States. There are few places that I am totally opposed to going to, but I definitely have my druthers on where I would like to go.

There is really not a lot of interesting things going on in my life. I emailed most of you about my friend Diane. Everything with her and the baby appears to be good. She's definitely going to have a tough road ahead of her being pretty immobile when Kyle is born, but she'll be fine I am certain. Just keep her in your prayers.

I am in the process of planning another vacation for the late summer or early fall. Right now, it looks like I will be going to Colorado the week of Labor Day. I have never seen the Rockies, so I figured..why not? I also have plans in late July (28&29) to go to a Texas Rangers game with a group of friends in Dallas. That'll be an all weekend thing. We usually do that about twice a year and have a blast. Last year was miserable though. LOL It was so stinking hot, I had worked all morning and then driven to Dallas, so by game time I was already exhausted and I was also coming off of a bad breakup, so I wasn't in the best of moods to begin with. Anyway, this year, I have already requested the Saturday off. That way I can drive to Dallas on Friday when I get off and will get to spend more time with the group and get plenty of rest.

That's all I have planned for now anyway. Luckily I have 18 days of vacation this year, so hit me up with some ideas on where to spend another week in the early part of next year. I am always looking for something fun and exciting to do, so please be thinking of some ideas!

Until next time...stay cool and God bless!
