WHAT A DAY!

LOL So much for a relaxing birthday....and so much for a relaxing Sunday. Man talk about a day!

It all started out innocently...had church services this morning...then I went to lunch with my dad (a birthday tradition). I came home, watched a little of the NCAA basketball tournament and then went to play football.

We were about an hour into football when it happened...the previous possesion I had scored on a 75 yard play. Then we went on defense (I think...I truly do not remember lol)All I remember is the ball being thrown in my general direction...then a huge crash...then I woke up with 3 or 4 guys standing over me and I was in a pool of my own blood. I (apparently) colided going full speed with another guy. His head, elbow...something...caught me square in the face.

So now I have a split lip and am trying my best to keep gauze and ointment on it to prevent the pain from getting worse. It actually didn't hurt a lot at first. I was able to clean myself up with a water hose and drive myself home. It was after an hour or so that the pain set in.

It's a pretty nasty cut. My sister (a nurse) looked at it. She didn't think it needed stitches...and anyway...your mouth is about the worst place to get stitches anyway. My nephew and niece are getting a kick out of my having a big gauze pad over my mouth LOL

The day did end on a good note though :-) Sarah (my 4 year old niece) called to wish me a happy birthday. That was great. I love hearing her voice everytime she calls me. THats MY girl :-)

Anyway, I hope that you all had a great day. Less than 2 weeks til I invade New York!

Three Weeks and Counting

Whew! What a week! Life has gotten crazy around here. My sister, brother in law, and nephew and niece came to visit us this week. I had a really good time. I always enjoy spending time with them and getting to sit and talk with them. Of course I love getting to play with Sarah and Brett. They are precious. We played in the back yard, played in the house, watched Barney (of course hehe) and all in all had a really good time. With them being here, naturally my sister that lives here and her two kids (also a nephew and niece) were here more than usual. It's always fun to have most of the family together. Add to that the fact that my brother came to town and we had us a little family reunion goin on. It was a good time..I just wish our oldest sister would have been able to come. I got very little sleep but it was still a good time.

Work has been VERY crazy over the past week and a half. One of my top guys was severely injured in a car wreck on his way to work last Saturday. Keep him in your prayers. He basically destroyed his ankle...had to have it re-set. So he is going to be out of action for about 6-8 weeks before he can start rehab. He's a good worker so as far as I am concerned..he's got a job when he comes back. Then I had to fire a guy for his attendance issues so I went from being overstaffed to being understaffed. LOL Such is the crazy life at FedEx. So naturally my 'numbers' have been sub-par...but you can't explain that to upper management...they expect new people to perform as just as good a level as experienced people..ah well...we managed to pull out a decent week and after a terrible Thursday...had an excellent day on Friday...so things are lookin up! I only work three days this week so next weekend will be a much needed break.

Now, to the title of this post. Three weeks from today, I will be arriving in New York for my vacation. I am really excited to be seeing Dustin, Laura and later in the week Greg and Lisa. This vacation is LONG overdue. I haven't had more than 4 days off in a row in over 3 years. I am going to enjoy this vacation and not even worry about work. I am going to have myself TOTALLY overstaffed just in case anything happens while I am gone. I want the people running my shift to have PLENTY of back-up people to call upon if anyone gets sick, quits, gets fired, etc. I still haven't decided what to do the last 4 days of my vacation yet. Hit me up with some suggestions. Maybe I'll go to Dallas and see an old buddy whom I still owe a dinner to for college graduation. Everytime we get something planned...this punk backs out though. You know who you are....PUNK LOL

Anyway...I hope that everyone is doing well and that the Lord has blessed you with good health and spirits.

Yes I am still alive....sorta

Hey guys...sorry for the delay in postings...I have been pretty out of it lately. Work this week (thus far...2 days to go lol) has been pretty stressful. We've been a lot busier than anticipated, one of our other managers is on vacation which means we all have to try our best to pick up the slack. No biggie..just don't wanna hear anything about me working too many hours from my boss when he keeps giving me more to do.

This is gonna be a short post. I am definitely looking forward to my vacation. I need a break from work and life in general. I am facing some tough stuff in my personal life so please keep me in your prayers. Also, Lord willing, I will be looking to transfer out of Texarkana by mid to late summer, so if you could, please keep that situation on the back of your minds and in your prayers.

As my vacation gets closer I will try to post more. Right now, there is just nothing interesting to speak of going on.
