Never judege a book by its cover...

Sorry for the long delay in posts. I've been super busy here lately. Last week I took the trip to our corportate offices in Pittsburgh, PA for some training. Going into this trip I was thinking that it was going to be a huge waste of my time and company money. Boy was I ever wrong!

This class was the most interesting and fascinating training course I have ever taken. From start to finish, this class was both motivating and quite the learning experience. I know it sounds nerdy but we took several "self evaluation" tests that diagnosed our personalities and hence, our leadership styles. It was an awesome class and gave me something to look at and determine how to strengthen myself in some areas. (This may come as a surprise to a lot of you but I am actually pretty well balanced! So to all of those of you who thought I was a little "off" I say "HA!" lol)

We actually spent the better part of one day watching and analyzing the movie "Remember the Titans". Looking at it from a leadership standpoint was quite interesting. There is A LOT to learn from that movie when you sit and watch it.

One of the most interesting things we did was pair off into groups and come up with a skit about certain events that occur on an everyday basis at a typical FedEx facility. My group of six was probably the most diverse group there was. There were two of us white guys, one black gentleman and three Hispanic gentlemen from different areas of the world. We all have very dominant personalies, yet we all came together rather quickly, leaned on certain people's strengths in each category, and made a great skit. We all agreed that it was very good and flowed smoothly. The whole purpose of the skit was collaboration. We all had our own ideas on how it should be done, yet we threw all of our inhibitions away and compromised on a few things. Like I said, it may sound nerdy but this class, the whole experience in general was awesome!

While in Pittsburgh I got the opportunity to meet up with a couple of friends in the area. One from West Virginia and another from Ohio. It was great to meet up with them and catch up on some things. I was reminded that three year olds have an abundance of energy that simply doesn't go away. I also was reminded by this three year old that pillow fights are fun :)

I am still working on vacation plans. I *was* going to Colorado in July but right now, I simply don't have the money for it, and, I am sick of travelling. A big part of my family is coming down at the end of July when my new niece is born, so I may take a few days at the end of the month. Probably not an entire week though. I am thinking that I will go to Colorado at the begining of September more than likely. That'll give me a little more time to save some money.

At church, we are doing a fascinating series of lessons on the book of Luke. My church has some amazing teachers and people in the classes. Every week, I look more and more forward to doing more in depth studies. Right now, I am on top of the world :)

Hope that everyone is doing well and I hope to hear from y'all soon!

~God Bless~
